Protecting the Giant Otters
Protecting the Giant Otters
At the beginning of our presence in this region, and mainly on the Clarinho river, the giant otters were still seen as a strong competitor of the river communities, as they attacked their “jacas” (a large basket made of bamboo, in which the fisher keeps his fish).
By means of the monitoring, educational signs and visits to the farms along the river, and mainly for the economic benefits of tourism, this reality has changed, and today, out of each 5 river tours, 3 of them find these beautiful mammals, endangered of extinction.
