Pantanal In Search of The Jaguar - Cuiabá River 06 nights (Porto Jofre and Araras Eco Lodge)
The Pantanal is the world’s largest contiguous wetland area (actually an alluvial plain) located in the center of South America, spanning three countries, with around 168,000 km2 (60,000 sq. miles) being in Brazil. It’s a perfect ecological niche for a great number of birds, reptiles and other animals to the delight of wildlife lovers and photographers. The Transpantaneira Park Road, a raised dirt road 147 km (90 miles) in length from Poconé to Porto Jofre crossing 126 small wooden bridges, penetrates deep into the Pantanal ecosystem.

DAY 2 AND 3 - PANTANAL - HOTEL PORTO JOFRE
The region between the Cuiabá and Piquiri rivers hold the State Park "Encontro das Águas", in live a superb high concentration of jaguars (over 60 individuals). Most of those cats are quite habituated to boat traffic and people. The meeting of those rivers offer exceptional good fishing possibilities, receiving therefore hundreds of fisherman's since more than 20 years. That’s the main reason why since some years , jaguars viewing has increased and has become an international "fever".
The best way to meet those enigmatic and mythic "kings of the jungle" is by boat, cruising in low speed the rivers border, searching in the tree shadows and empty beaches for signs of them, as well as other rare wild life as ocelots an giant river otters, among others.
We depart early in the morning, have the option to return to the Lodge for lunch and rest, and restart later in the afternoon searching until down.
